My sister is once again exhibiting at the San Diego Spring Home/Garden Show this weekend. Her theme this year is Went to a Garden Party, which she describes as:

All the colorful flowers are invited to a festive shabby chic gala. The setting is white so the dress will be in brightest hues to show off floral finery at its best. Whimsy and sparkle are the words of the day and the most important thing is to have fun!

Her garden is finished and ready for the grand opening gala this evening. My brother, Mike, and our parents will be with her this evening to celebrate her achievement. I will be with her in spirit and I know that the show will be perfect.

I just switched the calendar at my desk from February to March and noted that today is St. David's Day. I had never heard of St. David's Day but a quick Wikipedia search revealed that St. David's Day is a feast day to celebrate the patron saint of Wales and held on the 1st of March every year. So I continued reading and discovered these other interesting things about St. David's Day.

• It is celebrated on the 1st of March in remembrance of the death of St. David in 589.
• It was made an official national day of celebration in Wales in the 18th century.
• It is never celebrated in conjunction with Ash Wednesday. So in 2006, members of the Roman Catholic church celebrated it on February 28th and members of the Anglican Church celebrated it on March 2nd.
• It is not a bank holiday.
• It is tradition to wear a daffodil or leek on your clothing.
• The Flag of Saint David is often flown on St. David's Day.
• It is not a celebration of my brother, even though he generally love able guy! Sorry buddy!
